There will also be a meeting in Audubon on Tuesday, February 28. Details to follow. 2012 crop news There are three significant changes for 2012 that you may not be aware of. #1. Premium rate decreases – the RMA has decreased the rate by which your premium is calculated in your county. The premium rate is broken down into different parts. RMA has announced in several media outlets that the rate will decrease by anywhere from 13% to 16%, in one part of the formula that is used to calculate the rate. Overall the rate will decrease around 4% to 5%, but this is only the premium rate. The rate is used in the calculation of the final premium. Premiums are affected greatly by the spring price that is determined by the futures in February. #2. Trend adjusted yields - If TA is elected on your policy, it will adjust yields in your APH history to reflect increases in yields through time in the county. This will help adjust some of your older history to be more in line with current yields. There will be a premium charge per acre for this election but a policyholder could elect to go down a level and spend less premium to be at the same bushel guarantee they had in 2011. #3. New premium due date – RMA has changed the due date to October 1, so the billing statements will be sent August 15. If you have any questions, please call to discuss these new changes. In Coon Rapids - John, Larry, Marcia, Gayla, Julie, or Chris. In Audubon Dave Lake or Dave Walters. In Glidden – Donna Kinnick or Su Richardson. |
